In her chatty and anecdotal style, she reminds us of all those words, objects and expressions that have gone out of modern usage and illustrates them with stories from her own early years.

Forced to live together in trying circumstances, a group of British women from varied backgrounds must put their social differences aside and band together to protect not just themselves, but three survivors from a British bomber plane who make an emergency landing in the camp's grounds.

Davis gets wind of the fact that a Nazi spy has infiltrated an economic delegation with the intent of undermining attempts to reach a trade agreement between Great Britain and certain South American countries. The effort to expose the dastardly fellow sees Hay adopt various disguises in a steady onslaught of mistaken-identity comedy.

Richard Attenborough and Jack Warner star in this late 1940s British drama set in a reform school for boys. After being caught and sent to a borstal for three years because of his involvement in a robbery, teenager Jackie Knowles (Attenborough) makes friends with fellow juvenile delinquents Alfie (Dirk Bogarde) and Bill (Jimmy Hanley). Meanwhile, the reformatory govenor (Warner) attempts to keep the boys under control.

Drama starring Joan Collins, Yvonne Mitchell and Kathleen Harrison as a trio of women from different backgrounds released from prison on the same day. Monica (Mitchell) ended up in prison after taking the fall for a crime masterminded by her lover, David (Terence Morgan), while Stella Jarvis (Collins) was sent to jail for prostitution and Mrs Quilliam (Harrison) was put away for shoplifting, having been too poor to afford food. The three women agree to meet for dinner to discuss their first day of freedom - if they can survive its temptations and avoid heading straight back to jail, of course.
